Everybody has a story.

Really.

It’s an old concept in American journalism, but it was reinforced for about 150 journalists at a standing-room-only session at the Poynter Institutes National Writers’ Workshop in Indianapolis.

It took some convincing by David K. Johnson, a columnist for the Lewiston Morning Tribune in Idaho. Johnson tells just about anyone who will listen about an idea he’d been toying around with.

He has told people that he met in the bar about it. He told people in the business about it.

Finally, he took a chance and told his editor about his idea.
